MUSEUM PROGRAM APRIL 19 FOCUSING ON EARLY-DAY PHOTOGRAPHERS

The Finney County Historical Museum will conclude the spring segment of the “Evenings at the Museum” lecture series at 7 p.m. April 19 with a program featuring numerous early-day photographs of the community.

Entitled “Through Their Lenses,” the free presentation will take place in the meeting room of the museum, offering perspectives on Garden City and the area by local photographers dating back to the 1800s. Johnetta Hebrlee, museum education coordinator, will lead the program.

Those who attend should use the north door of the museum, and are welcome to bring their own dinner, if desired. The Finney County Historical Society will provide beverages and dessert.

The evening series provides programs at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, January through April and September through November, sponsored by Kansas Chapter 62 of the AT&T Pioneers. It runs parallel to the annual Brown Bag Lunch program, which provides history lessons at noon each Tuesday throughout February.

While this will be the last spring segment in the 2016 series, presentations are also scheduled Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 15. Other events coming up include the FCHS Annual Meeting and Banquet, set for 7 p.m. April 23 at the Garden City Church of the Nazarene, with reservations due April 15 for the $18 meal; and a live history re-enactment call “An Evening in the Past” on May 21, for which ticket sales will open soon.
