There is so much to discover in and around Garden City. Take a look at some of our top choices for photography and sight-seeing.

Check Out the Ghost Towns

To be transported back to the 19th century and unleash your inner-historian, look no further than Finney County’s ghost towns. Eminence and Ravanna are two instaworthy places in Kansas you can explore.

The crumbling remains of these ghosts towns have an interesting history to tell. The backdrop of the County Seat War makes for stunning, eerie photography.

It is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Garden City.

Visit Friends of the Sandsage Bison

For a chance to see buffaloes roaming in the wild, look no further than the Friends of the Sandsage Bison Range. This conservation program is also helping to protect the majestic species, so it’s a great cause to support.

The FOSBR has a history dating back over a hundred years and it is a wonderful place to learn about these animals, against the backdrop of a stunning ranch stretching over hundreds of thousands of acres.

The incredible wildlife shots you’ll take here will amaze your followers, and if you visit during spring and summer time, you may even capture photos of baby bison!

The Big Pool

Garden City is lucky enough to host the largest hand-made cement swimming pool in the United States! It’s the perfect place to cool off during the hot Kansas summer.

Although the pool has been closed for much of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and is now closed for renovations, something bigger and better is on the cards for next year!

Take a Drive

Some of the most beautiful scenery in and around Garden City is waiting to be photographed, all you need is four wheels and a camera. What are you waiting for?!

Driving down country lanes you’ll come across picturesque wheat fields and the rolling Western Kansas landscape that we cherish so much.

Why not rent a vintage car and stage a photo shoot on a dusty road in Finney County. You might be able to capture one of the momentous storms moving across the sky. The colors you’ll capture are truly breathtaking.

Or, head to the Talley Trail which winds its way through the city, and see what you can photograph there.
