FINNEY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY RIB SALE FUND RAISER UNDER WAY

Orders being taken through Aug. 24 with pre-Labor Day pick-up 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at museum

The Finney County Historical Society’s annual pre-Labor Day spare rib sale is under way as a fund-raising endeavor to support exhibits, educational programs, research and artifact preservation at the Finney County Museum.

Orders may be placed through Aug. 24, with pick-up for customers from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the museum meeting room, 403 S. Fourth in Finnup Park. Prepared by Webb’s Food Crew and Barbecue of Deerfield, orders will be hot, ready and fully cooked.

The sale, sponsored by the Garden City Telegram, includes:
– Racks of pork spare ribs, $28 each
– Tri tip roasts, $35 each
– Bottles of Webb’s barbecue sauce, in a choice of original or hot, $6.50 each.

Each rack of pork spare ribs weighs approximately three pounds. The tri tip roasts, approximately four pounds each, serve four to five people.

“We think of this as an opportunity that’s historically delicious, and it’s a great way to feed your friends and family for Labor Day weekend,” said Steve Quakenbush, FCHS executive director. “We’re proud to work with Webb’s on this, since everyone knows about the flavor and quality of everything they produce. We’re also glad to have the Telegram as our sponsor.”

Payment by cash or check is necessary in advance, and orders may be placed with any member of the FCHS Board of Directors.

Orders may also be placed in person at the museum. Office hours at the museum, via the north entrance, are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Exhibit entrance summer hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 10, and 1-5 p.m. seven days weekly thereafter. Information is available at 620-272-3664.

Organizers said orders are limited to capacity and subject to sell-out, so it’s important to place them early. The sale, which relies entirely on volunteer assistance, is one of several events conducted each year to help fund exhibits and historical society programs for the people of Finney County.
