The Thick and Thin of it: Notan

Notan (dark/light in Japanese) is a guiding principle of Eastern art which focuses on the placement of light and dark elements within a composition. Embodied in the ancient symbolism of the Yin and the Yang, it recognizes the separate but equally important identity of both a shape and its background. In this workshop, we will learn the basics to creating your own piece of artwork in black and white, then a second piece in red and white. Enjoy a fun experience which benefits your thought process of composition and design with local artist Robin Valenzuela on hand to guide you. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced participants.
